The E.U. added 41.4 gigawatts of new solar capacity this year, which is a record in history.
According to SolarPower Europe, the new capacity is capable of meeting the needs of 12.4 million households and replacing 102 LNG tankers.
Year-on-year growth is in the order of 25% from 167.5 to 208.9 gigawatts, while the association expects 53.6 gigawatts of installations for 2023 with the prospect of doubling installed capacity within four years to 2026.
The countries with the largest additions this year were Germany with 8 GW, Spain with 7.5 GW, Poland with 4.9 GW and the Netherlands with 4 GW.
